Joe and I were trying to think of all the new things that Amelia can do these days. It seems like she does something brand new every day! Here are some of Amelia's "tricks"
Body Parts she can point to/name: Hands, Feet, Toes, Tongue, Mouth, Eyes, Nose, Ears, Hair, Hands, Knees, Cheeks, Belly/Bellybutton, knees.
Words she can say (there are too many to name them but here are a few): "hi", "bye", "mama", "Daddy", "Alisha", "Papa", "Bebe"(Grammy), "Pete", "Please", "Thank You", "Ball", "Balloon", "Night, Night", "Book", "Bear", "Shoes", "Tree", "Surprise", "cheese!", "milk", "Potty", "Purse", "Elmo","Hat" and several other words that I'm sure I've missed. She seems to pick up new words all the time but so far "I Potty" is the only phrase that she's concocted.
Animal Sounds she can do: Cow, Pig, Dog, Duck, Owl, Cat.
Faces she makes: Happy Face, Yummy Face, "Grr" face, Sleepy Face, Shy Face (these stem from a "Baby Faces" board book that Amelia loves to read).
When she sees a camera or a cell phone Amelia says "CHEESE" to get her picture taken. She'll often open a flip phone, turn it around so it points to her face and look at it and say "cheese". I still don't know how she figured that one out.
When asked how old she is, Amelia can say "I'm ONE" and hold up one finger. "ONE" has started to sound like "WEE" though.
Favorite Books: "Are you my mother?", "Moo, Baa, La La La", "Elmo Loves You", and "Olivia". We've read these at least 3 million times each :-) She also loves her Bear ABC book and loves to sing her ABC's. Other favorite songs include "The Beanbag Rock" (which she learned at story time at the library and sings it at home), "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", and "Patty Cake". You can tell which one she is "singing" or wants you to sing by the hand motions she makes.
Favorite Foods: All kinds of meat (especially bologna), cheese, peas, grapes, apples, oranges, chicken nuggets. She seems to avoid carrots, mushrooms, most breads, pickles, and olives.
Favorite Hangout: The flour cubbard in the kitchen. We can't keep her out of there! She also loves being in the bathroom and usually has a temper tantrum when it's time to get out. Amelia has recently started saying the phrase "I potty". She wants to go and sit on the potty but doesn't actually "go". I think it's all part of the ploy to hang out in the bathroom.
Friends: Amelia likes to play with Alisha (the four year old I babysit for). "Alisha" is usually the first word out of her mouth when she wakes up because Alisha is arriving about the same time that Amelia wakes up. Amelia also enjoys playing with her friend Alana at church. She has just started attending the preschool Sunday School class which makes her mom so proud!! Amelia has two friends very close in age named Natalie and Gracie. We get together with them for playgroups during the week.
It's been so fun to watch Amelia grow up! I can't believe how fast the past year has flown and I know that I'll be saying that year after year but it's so true. I really love that little girl!
