The Simple Things...

It's funny how the simple things can bring one so much joy... like being able to get a good night's sleep. I was so proud of Amelia last night. Joe and I were playing with Amelia while watching "so you think you can dance". I noticed that Mia was starting to look sleepy so I suggested that we put her to bed right then so we could hopefully watch "Hell's Kitchen" after she fell asleep. Joe agreed so he fed her and rocked her while I sat on the floor in the nursery knitting with NPR in the background (yes, this is our nightly ritual). She went to sleep pretty easily and we were able to watch the entire episode of the Hell's Kitchen finale. Yay for Rock by the way. :-)

I went to bed around 9:30 PM hoping to get a couple hours of sleep before Mia woke up around midnight. I woke up at 12:30 AM, looked at the clock and thought Mia would be up in about a half hour so I tried to fall right back asleep. I woke up again at 3:00 totally shocked that she hadn't woken up. I checked the monitor to make sure it still worked. I went into the bedroom to make sure she was okay. Yep. Sleeping like a baby :-). I finally went back to sleep and Amelia woke up around 4:00 AM. That's 8 hours!! I was so happy that I was actually EXCITED to get up and feed her. She went back to sleep in about 45 minutes and slept until I HAD to wake her up at 7:00 for daycare!! WoW.

Let's hope that this will start a trend. Our whole lives will change if we all the sudden become accidentally well-rested. Joe was even more excited because he got to sleep the WHOLE night without getting up (although I had to wake him up at 4:30AM to tell him that Mia slept til 4:00).

The simple things like getting sleep make me so happy! It's like when Mia smiles at me when I see her at daycare... there's just nothing else like it!!
