Amelia's First Dentist Appointment

Amelia had her dentist appointment today and it went really well. Mostly the hygienist just counted her teeth and checked out her mouth. Amelia's one year molars are coming in and no sign of her two year molars yet. The hygienist was so happy about how Amelia brushed her teeth on her own and said that's a good sign that we've been brushing well.

Amelia has a chipped front tooth that I wanted looked at and she said it looked fine (the dentist came in at the end and reiterated that). The dentist took a look in her mouth and could tell that she used a pacifer and said that we should get rid of it by 3 (I told them 2 was my goal!). She also has a strong frenulum muscle between her front two teeth which is nothing to worry about but they said if she hits it, it could bleed a lot, so just to make sure to check it if she falls.

They advised me to start using a small amount of toothpaste with fluoride instead of the baby stuff I had been using and to continue with the fluoride drops we are using. The dentist said the reason why dentists' kids never get cavities is because they brush their teeth after every meal/snack. That's inspiration for us!

That's about it. She looked good! We go back in 6 months for another cleaning.

Wow, our dentist said to bring Gabby in close to 3 years old. Maybe that is too long to wait? Maybe I should ask again when we go to get Evan's teeth cleaned in December. Sounds like you're doing a great job though! Keep it up!!
